OBITUARY.
A DISTINGUISHED DIPLOMAT,
(By Electric, TelfitrraDh —Copyright.) Per Preas Association. LONDON, March 20. Tho death is announced of Sir Nicholas O'Conor, Ambassador to Constantinople, aged 65 years. Tho Right Hon. Sir Nicholas Roderick O'Conor, G.C.8., K.C.8., G.C.M.G., P.C., became Ambassador at Constantinoule in 1898. He was born in Ireland on Julv 3rd, 1843. In 1887 he married Minna Margaret, daughter of the late J. HopeScott and Lady Victoria Howard, daughter of the 14th Duke of Norfolk, and had three daughters. He entered the diplomatic service in 1886, was Attache to the Embassy at Berlin from 1867 to 1870, and subsequently became Secretary at Tho Hague, Madrid, Rio do Janeiro, and Paris. In the eighties he was Secretary and Charge d'Affaires at Peking, and from 1886 to 1892 was Political Agent and Consul-General at Bulgaria. The years 1892 to 1895 saw him back, to Peking as Minister, and he was Ambassador at St. Petersburg from 1895 to 1898. Altogether he was 43 years <in the diplomatic service, and achieved many successes.
