' Per Press Association. CIIRISTCHURCH, March 23. In the Supreme Court this morning Mr Justico Denniston sentenced three prisoners who had pleaded guilty in thtj lowor court to charges of the theft of bicycles, perjury, and forgery and uttering. Ernest Vaughan, aged 18 years, on three charges of forgery, got probation for two ycars ; on condition that ho remain under the control of the Samaritan Home authorities for six months. Arthur Duffey, 24, on. eight charges of bicycle thefts, was' sentenced in all to three years.' Jtmes Albert Shoard, perjury in connection with an affiliation case, received three month*' imprisonment. ASrfBURTON, March 23. A five-roomed house at Staveley, owned and occupied by G. S. Mcßae, was, together with its contents, totally destroyed by fire early this morning. The occupants barely escaped. The house was? .insured for £150, and th • furniture for £75, both in 'ho State efficc. AUCKLAND, March 23. Two boys, aged 14 years, named McIndoe and Nathan, recently given lengthy sentences with hard labour'for assaults on girls, have been transferred to the Burnham Homo, in accordance with the judge's recommendation.
