SPORTS MEETINGS.

OROUA BRIDGE. The Oroua Bridge Sports Association held their sixth annual sports meeting in Mr H. Larkins , paddock yesterday. This year the whole programme was composed of horse events, and tliere was an attendance of between five and six hundred. The day was bright, but not, too hot, and was pleasant for racing. There was no totalisator on the ground, but the raucous voice of the bookmaker was much in evidence, nii*3 of the fraternity being on the course. These gentleman paid £6 5s deposit, and a fee of £2 2s each. The turf was in pretty good condition, with an excellent straighr. The Association had provided an excellent grainaphode, which rendered selections during the day. The secretary. Mr W. Parlane, worked indefatigablV for the success of the meeting, as did' also the individual members of the committee, who were courteous and obliging to visitors., Mr Bert Green was - the starter of "the events. Good fields werb entered, and most of the races were got off promptly. The entries were made at the post. Results: — Rangiotu Handicap, six furlongs, for a sweepstake of ss. with 7 sovs added (open).—St. Leo i, Gold Mine 2, Flying Cloud 3. Time, lmin 25 2-ssec. Gold Mine was favourite. Pony Handicap, four furlongs, for a sweepstake of ss, with 4 sovs added (open).—Cassina 1. Tit for Tat 2, Pukutotara 3. Time. 57 4-ssec. Ten starters. Favourite: Tit for Tat. Trot Handicap, one mile and threequarters, for a sweepstake of ss, with 5 sovs added (open).—Grcyboy 1, Alice 2. Happy Jack 3. Time. smin 40 4-sscc. Six starters. Oroua Bridge Cup. one mile and a half, for a sweepstake of 10s. with 20 sovs added.—Flying Cloud 1, Refined 2, Himitangi 3. The winner led from the jump, and won by about two lengths. Refined was favourite and the winner second favourite. Nino starters. Local Race Handicap, five furlongs, for a sweepstake of ss, with 5 sovs added.—Lulu 1, Gold Mine 2. Time, lmin 8 3-ssec. The winner was favourite. Six starters. Ponv Race Handicap, five furlongs, for a sweepstake of ss, with 5 sovs added (open).—Pukpfotara 1. Tit for Tat 2, Cassina 5. Time, lmin 10 l-ssec. Fivo ""started, and the race was won by a length and a half. A protest was lodged, it being alleged that a rider was changed after the weighing out, but the protest was dismissed. Ladies' Bracelet Handicap, one round the course , , for a bracelet valued at 5 sovs (open).—Flying Cloud 1, St. Leo 2, South Queen 3." Time, lmin 29 2-ssec. There were seven starters in this race, which ended in a very exciting finish, Flying Cloud coming right out from the back of the field and winning by a length. Trot Handicap, about one mile and a half, for a sweepstake of ss, with 4 sovs added (open).—Greyboy (scr) 1. Hapny Jack 2. Time, 4min 58sec. There were six starters, the winner getting home with only a narrow margin.

Consolation Race, seven furlongs, for a sweepstake of ss. with 4 soys added. — Libertv Bell 1. Refine 2, Himitangi 3. Time, 'lmin 37 2-ssec. Five horses faced the starter. Liberty Bell winning by a length. AWAHURI. There was a large attendance at the Awuhnri Sports, ail the surrounding district being well represented. The J.roilding Band was in attendance, and contributed an excellent programme of musical selections. Snort right through was good, competition being keen in all the events. The challenge cup presented in the Open Hunters' Competition was won by Mr Hartley's Vendetta, last year's winner. Hartstone, second. Mr A. Hill's pony Sen Sen won the Pony Jumping Cup'. Mr Turraiit, president of the club, handed over the trophies to the winners after the events, cheers being given for the winner;!, club, and president. Messrs D. Thompson and Whisker judgedthehorse events, and Messrs J. McLean. A. R. Moore, and li. T. Sanson the other events. Air J. C. Collingwood's handicaps produced several good finishes, a fad lie was congratulated upon more than once. The .secretary, Mr E. H. Rogers, and the rest of the executive were iiiiremitiing" in tlieir attention to details, and well deserved the success achieved. Appended are details of the various events: —
