FIRES.

Per Press Association. MASTERTON, March 13. Thompson and Roff's flaxmill at Opaki was totally destroyed by fire to-day. Eleven tons of fibre were destroyed. There was no insurance on the mill or fibre, and Thompson and Roff are heavy losers. A large bush fire is burning out on Mr D. McKenzie's property, near Werati. All the station hands and settlers in the vicinity are fighting it, and expect to be up all night. It has a tremendous hold, and is fanned, by a breeze. A large amount of damage is expected to be done.
