OTAKI, Thursday
Paraparaumu, usually noted for its scrono climatic condition, was on Wednesday night visited by a howling gale, which tore the iron roofing of the Anglican Church from its accustomed place. The gale was so severe that the residents were unable to sleep.
The annual meeting of the Manakau Football Club was held on Wednesday night, Mr J. S. Fowler in tho chair. The balance-sheet and annual report wore satisfactory. The following were elected office bearers : —Patron, Mr T. Bevan ; president, Mr E. Bevan; vice-presidents, Messrs Moorhouse, Tatum, Jones, Hurley, Mcßain, W. Bevan, Drake, Wehipuhana, Stoppford and Knight; secretary and treasurer, Mr W. Bevan, junv.; club captain, Mr E. Bevan; selection committee, Messrs Mcßain and Wehipuhana.
