Per Preeg Association. WESTPORT, February 12. The cruiser Prometheus sails to-day for Melbourne. . After* ten days' stay at this port the barque' Mennock is ready to sail for Valparaiso with a cargo of coal. The Westp'ort. Coal Company has notified Westport customers of increases in the price of coal on and after Ist March, viz., screened coal from 17s to 18s por ton, unscreened coal from 13s to 149, small coal from 10s to 10s 63. Mr Dixon, district manager, informs the Press Association agent that the advance is due to the altered conditions of working at the mines increasing the cost of production. Ever since the Ministerial visit to Denniston, colliery operations have proceeded with pleasurable smoothness. The output is being splendidly maintained, and relations between the management and employees leave nothing to be deaired.
