LONDON MARKETS. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cable messages from the London house, under date of the 6th insfc.: —Butter: The market is very firm in consequence of short stocks. We expect higher prioes. The total imports of butter into the United Kingdom for week ending Ist inst. amounted to 89,000 cwt., as compared with 82,300 cwt. for the corresponding week of 1907, showing an increase of 6700 cwt. Danish butter is 5s higher. Salted and un salted 130s. Frozen meat: Prices for mutton and lamb are unchanged. Frozen beef: Prices are lower. Tallow: The market is unchanged, but there is a better demand. At present buyers show little or no disposition to operate. We believe prioes have touched bottom. Do not expect any important change in prices in v , the immediate' future, but prices may improve somewhat later on. Rabbit skins.: Expect no material change in prioes at next Hides: Prices are firm. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., have received the following cable from their London house under date of 7th February:—rSales closed firm and competition was brisk. Greasy good merino wools: Prices are on the average at/ par to 5 per cent, higher than closing rates of last series. Greasy merino wools, inferior and faulty qualities, 5 per cent, lower. Scoured merino wools, 5 per cent, lower. Fine crossbred wools: Any change in prices is in favour of sellers. Medium and coarse crossbred wools: Prices are on the average 10 per cent, lower. Out of the net quantity available for sale, some 81,000 bales have been sold for home consumption, 70,000 bales for the Continent, 6000 bales for America, leaving 30,000 bales to be carried forward to March series. FEILDING MARKET REPORT. A. H. Atkinson and Co., Ltd., report: —On Friday we held our weekly sale. A fair entry of pigs came to hand of a good class. Big pigs were well competed for and realised satisfactory prioes. Small pigs were neglected and hard to quit. The poultry pens were well filled and sold at current rates. A large consignment of plums brought a good price. Quotations: —Pigs: Weaners 4s 9d, 5s 9d, 8s 6d; slips, 10s 9d, lis 6d, 12s, 14s; stores, 19s, 128s 6d, 30a, 32s 6d. 335.
