Farmers' Uriidh in this district frith one central branch at Pahiatua; Mr Fowler, organiser of the Union, said he had received about 130 promises from farmers to join the branch, and considered the branch would eventually have a membership of about 300. The subscription was fixed on a graduated scale, the minimum bemg 10s on £2000 unimproved value, with an increase of one shilling for every £500 above that amount.
