INDEPENDENT ORDER OF RECHABITES.
JUVENILE BRANCH OPENED. -- A Juvenile Branch of the Rechabite Order was opened last evening in the Orange Hall by Bro. T. Fatherß, D.5.J.8., of Wellington. Several boys presented themselves for memberBhip. and after taking the Temperance pledge, Bro. Fathers declared the Tent open. Several of the adult members were present. V The election of officers resulted am follows.: —Superintendent, Bro. J. S. Munro; Assistant Superintendent, Bro. A. H. Mills; C.R., Bro. John Munro; D.R., Bro. Ray Andrews; Secretary, Bro. Ernest Shields; Levite, Bro. David Stubbs; Steward, Bro. Percy Blackburn; Guardian, Bro. Thomas Stubbs. After the officers had been installed Bro. Fathers explained to them their respective duties, also making a few remarks to encourage them m their work. He trusted that they would turn out faithful Rechabites, also that they would soon be instrumental in making the Tent a very large one.. Bro. J. C. Swallow, of the adult Tent, Qffered a pripe to the one who gets tlie first five members, and Bro. R. McMurray offered a silver medal to the one who gets the most memberß in six monthß. It was decided to name the Tent the Onward Juvenile Tent, and that the meetings be held every Ist and 3rd Monday in each month, prior to the meeting of the Adult Tent. After the Juvenile Branch had dispersed, the Adult Tent met for their usual meeting, there being a large attendance. Bro. J. S. Munro, C.R., occupied the chair. One new member was received, and one proposed. A long discussion took place as to the advisability of admitting girls into the Juvenile Branch, when it was ultimately decided to admit girls from. the age of 8 to 16. After the business had been transacted Bro. Munro on behalf of the Tent extended a hearty welcome to Bro. Fathers, and thanked him for coming to Palmerston and opening the Juvenile branch, assuring him that every effort would be made to make it a success. Bro. Fathers stated that it was a pleasure to come up and open the Juvenile Tent. Rechabitism was rapidly progressing throughout the Dominion. He hoped that every inducement would be given to the Juveniles, and trusted that through them the Order Would grow strong m this district. Bro. Fathers also congratulated the Adult Tent on the rapid progress which is being made here, and also paid a high tribute to the Secretary, Bro. Morgan, to whom the Tent owed a great deal for the work done by him during the past year.
