THE EXHIBITION.
RECEIPTS AND EXPENDITURE. NEARLY £90,000 LOSS. A return showing the receipts _ and expenditure of the recent Exhibition, from 27th May, 1905, to 31st October, 1907, was presented to Parliament on Saturday. The total expenditure was £239,970, and the actual loss made good by the Government was £87,617. The receipts included the following items: —Spacc fees, £24,686; admissions, £44,322; realisation of properties, £16,469; season tickets, £8483; sidesho,w royalties, £5854; concert hall revenue, £5166; Bes9es-o'-t,he-Barn Band, £3419; Seddon Memorial concert, £469. The expenditure items include the following: — Refunds to Government, £27,117; main building, £67,872; concert hall, £6433; organ, £3346; art gallery, £5639; machinery hall, £16,417; fornery, £2567; lavatories, £3149; preparation and maintenance of grounds, £4466; decorative expenses, tuary, £3776; furniture and fittings, £2660; concert hall, working expenses, £2859; orchestral expenses, £4044; general exhibits (handling), £6005; West Coast Court, £1453; fireworks, £1159; Besses-o'-the-Barn Band, £2528; wages of gatekeepers and attendants, £3376; fire prevention, £2704; salaries and office expenses, £7612; travelling expenses and allowances, £1953; printing, advertising, and stationery, £7599; insurance, fire and accident, £4504; gas, £5221; electric light and power, £7606: general expenses, £2597"; realisation expenses, £3392.
