ROOSEVELT AND THE CORPORATION.
(By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.; Per Press Association. LONDON, May 31. President Roosevelt, speaking at Indianopolis, said property was in less jeopardy from socialists or anarchists than from predatory men of wealth. Government did not intend to refrain from assorting the nation's right to control businesses and use wealth, es~ pecially in corporate form. G(}vernment must exercise over the a power analogous to that exercised over national banks. It must prevent over capitalisation or undue inflation of securities, and every honestly managed railway will gain under _ this policy. Government propose in no sense to be punitive or vindictive, and the State was powerful enough to cope legislatively with powerful corporations engaged in inter-State commerce.
