BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Cr. Essex has tabled the following notices of motion to be considered at the next meeting of the Council: That a return be prepared, giving the names of streets in which, water mains of 4 incises and over are laid, also the names of streets in which it is proposed to lay mains in sizes under the present water extension scheme.
That a return be made showing the cost of borough administration from August Ist. IDO-5, to August Ist, 1906, as follows:—lst, Town Clerk and clerical staff, including rate collector's office; 2nd, engineer's office and cost of administration, expenditure upon materials, repairs ami general maintenance; 3rd, number of men employed, class of work and rates of pay; 4th, cost of collecting and disposal of rubbish; sth, detailed cost per chain of various sewers laid, such as 6, 8, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24-inch pipes, and number oi" chains laid.
That as the sewage loan is now expended, the Council inform the engineer that his salary will be reduced to three hundred pounds sterling per annum.
That a return be prepared giving the number and sizes of water mains received from Messrs Duthie and Co. under a recent contracf, also giving a detailed list of the various sizes and lengths accepted by the Council after the damaged portion had been cut off.
