(Per Press Association) - FEILDING, This day. At the Magistrate's Court to day the action of Maoey against the former proprietors of the Feilding Star, claim £100 compensation for injury received in the machine room by a lad employed in the commercial department, was decided, the magistrate non-suiting plaintiff on the ground that he had made his election to proceed under the Workers' Compensa tion Act and he could not now proceed under the Employers' Liability Act. Mr Thomas Chamberlain, a wellknown flourmiller, a resident of twentyseven years' standing, leaves here tomorrow to settle, in Lps Angelos, California. He has taken a prominent share in local body work. Very satisfactory entries are being received for the Marton Poultry Show on August 7th. An old identity of Halcombe had a narrow escape ~ yesterday, a special engine almost going over him as he lay asleep on the railway line. Fortunately the driver was able to pull up in time. Some time ago the same man was crossing the line in front of the train with a number of articles in his hands, when the engine just skimmed past him knocking his load along the track.
