(For Press Asgocintioo.) WELLINGTON, May 22. At the Friendly Societies' Conference a. Wellington this morning, letters wore lead from the Premier relating to the national annuities scheme. Detailed suggestions for a ssehoini- in connection with Friendly Society members were explained, and for persons outside the societies, to t-id;o out deferred annuities with tbe Government, via , annuities beginning at such ages as GO, 65, and 70, by making deposits according to a certain scale which will he specified in the schedule of a Bill to bo brought uown by the Government. These an. miities will be subsidised by the Governuent, and will have the clkct of increasing the annuity bv 10 to 40 per cent, according to family and circumstances; Friendly Society members to receive an extra 5 per cent.
