A meeting of the committee of the 3N orth Island Horse-owners' Association was hcldatthe' Club Hotel last night. There was&. very satisfactory attendance. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Messrs W J. Ralph (Auckland), W. J. Nixon (Wangamu), H» S. Lsard (Wairar&pa). Mi C. E. Major, and Mt N. McLean were elected Vice-President® ot the Association, in place of Messrs ,N, Xtng and J. G. Duncan, Draft rules were considered and approved and will be submitted for final approval, before-being issued in book form, at a general meeting of the Association to be held in Wanganui on May 24th. w°... mee^n 8 have been held at Wellington this month will not be held. It was decided to register the Association under the TJnclassified Societies' Act, 1895.' A proposal was made to; increase ilie committee by another six members and a mption to that effect will be proposed at the next meeting. The proposed increase will be in the following directions Auckland 2 membora, Wanganui 1, Palmerston 1, Wellington i, vVairarapa 1. In all probability it will be decided to always hold the annual meeting at Wanganui in May, sq that any necessary business may be prepared tor the Conference in July. Clifford did not arrive in time to see the race for the Manawatu Stakes yestti'day in which he had. Glenowlefc engaged. Sir George, however, saw the race tor the Champion Plate in which ais colors were unsuccessfully carried by Lady Wayward. *' In to-day's issue we publish the programme of the Otaki Maori Racing Jub for its winter meeting. The programme will be generally referred to in icxt week's sporting notes. Solution has been scratched for,all sven ts at the Auckland li.C. meeting. The well-known racing mare Wild Duck, by Somnus—Ngarnatapouri, came o an untimely end at Wanganui yeserday morning. Toe mare was, it ppears, running in a paddock at Sedge>rook, and by some means fell into the reek, with the result that one of her egs was smashed. Her owner, Mr J. I. Nixon, on learning the nature of the lare's injuries, at once gave ordejrs to iave her shot. Wild Duck was a! fair lerformer on the racing track, and rould have, made an ideal hunter, for rhich purpose Mr Nixon intended that he should be used in future by his laughter.
