(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Jan. 25. John Frederick Crook, aged 19 years, serving a three years' sentence for theft, escaped from the prison works at Mount Cook Barracks this afternoon. DUNEDIN, January 25. The University Senate spent the whole forenoon discussing the " capping" question. Professor Brown (Canterbury) moved the suspension of the ceremony for two years on account of the behaviour of the undergraduates. Protessor Brown (Auckland) moved an amendment of suspension for one year only at any centre at which there may be disturbances. Seven voted for the motion and fifteen for the amendment.
