(Received November 24, at 10.11 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day. The report of the Public Service Board with regard to the payment of retired civil servants by previous administrations, revealed a scandal.
Referring to the report in tho House, Mr Carruthers, the Premier, states that a sum of £5000 had been voted, and instead of being distributed among 160 applicants it was distributed among 30. The report showed that not one penny should have been voted and not one penny.distributed. The £5000 was obtained largely or almost wholly by the influence of two ex-members of Parliament, Mr John Haynes and Mr E. M. Clark. Those who got the £5000 subscribed £200 for a presentation to the members mentioned.
Mr John Norton interjected: They got £600. .
