The Naval Board of construction has rejected the designs for battleships of 18,000 tons in favour of 16,000 ton ships on the ground that the former were unable to carry ten twelve-inch guns, or to maintain a speed of 20 knots. (Received November 24, at 9.5 a.m.) LONDON, November 23. The Queen's fund for the unemployed has reached £80,000. The Peninsular and Oriental Co.'s dividend on deferred shares is GA per cent, with a bonus of 3 per cent. CALCUTTA, November 23. The Maharaj of Jaipur, in honor of the visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales, has given three lakhs of rupees to the Indian famine trust. The Maharani in honour of the presence of the Princess of Wales has given one 'lakh.
