Sir Radcliffe was bred by Mr- TV. Eeill, of Canterbury, and is descended from the bluest of Clydesdale blood. Middirigg, the sire of Sir Radcliffe, was by Pure Diamond (imp.) from Lady Banker, by Young Banker (imp.) from the champion mare Marchioness, one of the greatest show ring horses ever foaled. Her total was thirty-four firsts and specials' in the best company Scotlanrl ever produced. Middirigg was also a great prize rihw horse, his record being eleven firsts and seven champion prizes, ail taken m the best of company. He was owned by J. Boag, Esq. Sir Radcliffe lias also been most successful in the show ring, securing first awards at Rangiora, North Canter" bury, and Nelson on several occasions.
