The Technical School.
The Rev. C. C. Harrer and Mr Vernon, Rector of the High School, waited upon the Borough Council last night and requested aid in connection with the technical classes to be started at the High School..Mr Vernon pointed out that now the buildings belonged to the school, though previously to the Wanganui Education Board. They were under agreement with the Board to carry on technical education in Palmerston from the beginning of January. Mr Vernon said he was perfectly certain the High School authorities would support the matter, apart from the High 'School itself. Any money granted carried a Government subsidy.
Replying to Cr Oausen Mr Vernon said the money would not be required before 19C-6.
..In answer to the Mayor Mr Vernon said that he had counted upon receiving £25 from the Council, which, with subsidy, would aggregate JESO. The Mayor said it would give the Council much pleasure to be able to consider the matter formally and the deputation then retired.
Later on the Council granted £25 to the school.
