Accidents and Fatalities.
• (Per Press Association. NELSON, This day. A serious accident occurred at Cooper and Co.'s contract for the erection of a new Post Office this morning. Odborne, a bricklayer's labourer, was carrying mortar on the scaffolding ■ when lie tripped. Page, a bricklayer, and Grant, clerk of works, rushed to his assistance and all fell together on to a scaffolding nine feet above the floor, the joists of which covered the cellar, a further depth of six feet. . Page fell between the joists fifteen feet and escaped with slight injuries. Osborne and Grant struck the joist severely and wrsre cut about the head. Grant was unconscious for a time and the condition of both is somewhatscrious.
HAWERA, This day. George Cooiii, aged It), fell from a tent pole on the showground to-day and was fatally injured. He died within ten minutes. His parents reside at Eden Terrace, Auckland.
