Cricket.

The season was informally opened on Saturday last, when a team of cricketers from Palmerston visited Oroua Bridge and defeated the homo players by 90 runs to 44. Among the visitors two recent arrivals from Wellington, Bartlett (13) and Hill (IS), showed good •batting form. Other double figures for the vi-itors were J. Baker (11, not out) and K. Drew (10). Hill. Hall and Bavtletfc were the trundlers for the visiting team and put up good averages, none of the home team reaching double figures. The team was most hospitably received, afternoon tea being provided by the ladies. Arrangements are beincr made by the team to visit Ashhurst or Bunnythorpe nest Saturday.
