Mr Fred. Pirani at Ashhurst.
The largest attendance at a public meeting ever held at Ashharst. was the result ot Mr Pirani's visit there yesterday. Mr G. S. Rumble, J.P., presided, and in a eulogistic speech spoke i» high terms of Mr Pirani's political work, of which he had been a keen observer* ftr the last 15 years, pointing out that when he first advocated cheap-money, accessibility of the land to those without mesas and justice for the worker-—all'of which he still supported. Mr Pmini- spolie tor nearly two hours on public questions and in reply to Mr Wood,, producing Government returns in contradiction of numbers of his statements. 'At the conclusion of the speech,, a) number of questions were satisfactorily answered.. iF : -; On the motion of Mr AchesontGray seconded by Mr Sanders, a vote of thanks was unanimously accorded to Mr Pirani, coupled with the expression that he was the most fit and proper person to represent the district in Parliament.
