New Zealanders Defeat Devon

The New Zealand footballers played their first match of the tour against Devon yesterday and won by eight goals, four (unconverted) tries, and one penalty goal |55), to one dropped goal (4) points. Six thousand spectators were present. The New Zealanders met with an enthusiastic reception. : Smith secured four tries, , Wallace three, Hunter two, Nicholson, Glasgow and Stead one each. Wallace placed all the goals kicked. (Per Press Association.) - WELLINGTON. September 17. ■ The Premier received a cable message this morning stating that the New Zealand football team defeated Devon County yesterday by fifty-five points to four.
