A Chinaman's Death.

DUNEDIN, August 25. At the inquest at Tapanui touching the death of Ham Sing Pong, who was found dead in his hut, Dr Robertson gave evidence tbat, after further examination, he had traced and found a bullet in front of the upper part of the right shoulder. It was what is know as a 32 calibre long bullet, which might have been used either in a revolver or a Remington sifle. Deceased would not have been able to move after being shot, as the wound would cause paralysis. A revolver was found in another room of the hut to the body. Constable Cowan gave evidence that he yesterday found £46 in the house, and this morning £24 19s 6d. The jury returned a verdict that Ham Sing Fong had been wilfully murdered by some person or persons unknown.
Constable Cowan, in his evidence, said he did not think the place had been used as an opium den. He had no reason to suppose sly-grog had been sold in the place. :-;
