"My Soldier Boy."

The Eoscius Dramatic Comedy Company gave a very, creditable entertainment at the Zealandia Hall last night, when they produced a military piece entitled" My Soldier Boy." By dint of persistency and a .considerable amount of histrionic ability, the Eoscius Company have overcome the prejudice which usually attaches to performances by amateurs, and they have established a local reputation for their efforts in this direction. There was consequently a very fair audience last night. The caste was not a large one but so well did they play their parts that the interest of the audience was fully sustained during the whole evening. Mr and Mrs H. Glubb had the principal roles, the former being "Montague Mcndle," a solicitor," and giving as usual, a very capable exposition of the part. Mrs Glubb, too, showed to advantage as " Lydia Mcndle." Mr E. Giorgi, though scarcely suited for the part of an old man, gave a very creditable performance. Mr M. Hartigan as " Private O'Doherty," ancl Mr W. Cronin as "Captain Cullender" were admirable soldiers. Miss V. Wighton has improved wonderfully since her last appearance. "Last night she took the part of " Mrs Morrison." Miss M. Hie key deserves mention for the manner in which she played "Martha." Other minor roles were " Lieutenant Allison," Mr J. Cathro; "Colonel Roscoe," Mr J. Foley ; " Geraldine Morrison," Miss B. Fenton._ The staging was on a"' par j with previous achievements by the Company.
