, A special and adjourned meeting of the Borough Council was held at the Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. There were present the Mayor and Crs Clausen^ St.jj.bbSj.MathiesQn, Holb~en~and~Armstr6ng. " TENDERS. ' ■'.. The tender of Brett and Hocking, JEB? 15s, yras accepted for footpath construction in Duke and Grey streets. PUBLIC STREETS. A special order .wuss passed constituting the following public streets: — Ada, Graham, RanEurly, Rolleston, Colombo, Pirie, Elizabeth, Carow,Hereford, Worcester, Clifton, College Ter : race, Joseph and Batfc. The present designations of the streets were also adopted. FIRE BRIGADE OFFICERS. Cr Hplben proposed " That the resolution in the Council's minutes re the appointment of officers of the Fire Brigade be rescinded, and that in future all officers of the Brigade shall be elected annually by the members of the Brigade." The motioa was carried. SQUARE STREETS. Cr Abraham moved that the resolution re closing the streets in the Square, appearing on the minutes, be rescinded. The motion, a formal one in accordance with the recent public meeting, was carried without discussion and the meeting terminated.
