~ Wairarapa commenced to. attack as soon as ,play started, and after a ' few minutes' play Manawatu were- forced down. The, offensive play of the visitors was interrupted by a,.strong rush by Manawatu who sustained the attack, for some time. Wairarapa responded well and though pressed, hardly, staved off an absolute score, in ~ which they were aided on occasions by faulty play on the part of the home team several excellent chances to score being missed. Wairarapa eventually cleared the line and carried play down to Manawatu territory, where it. remained sometime. A fast rush by the home team relieved the pressure and the line at the same time, but the ball was returned soon after, and the visitors had an unsuccessful shot at goal, the ball going wide. Manawatu followed up with several unsuccessful shots at goal, one by D. Fraser going within a foot of the posts. Play at this juncture was very even and much more, interesting than in the earlier stages. The spell ended shortly after without a score on either side.
Ihe second spell was mainly a repetition of the first, the play being very even. However, towards .the end of the game McKenzie hit a goal for Manawatu, and the game ended in their favor.
