A Disgusting Practice
(To the Editor)
Sib,—Although a compara'ively new resident of-this town. I notice, with regret, that a disgusting practice is allowed to exift in the most public portions of onr thorouehfares, namely, that of expectorating on the footpaths. It is nauseating for men to hare to "run the gauntlet" of the groups of idlers who commit this nuisance, but far worse for women, who, when passing these delectable spots, have to be on the gui vive to prevent their dresses from being fouled by these filthy slobberers. The language also indulged in at these choice reunions is often such as would put many a bullock driver to shame, and as the mayoral election is at present occupying the attention of the citizens, it might be an opportune time to attempt .some improvement m this respect. Will tho«e who guide the destinies of this pr-gressiv c place kindly note?— Yours, etc..
