Ameeina: to consider the question of 'urging-the Government to complete the^ Midland ltailway with as little delay as possible was held this evening under the auspices of the Chamber of Cjtn. merce.- Them wero delegates ' present from many local bodies an.i other a-to-" ciations in Cauterbarv. The following motion, mored by MrKoner. was c*rried unanimously : " Recoamsing the many advautagfts of railway communication between the West Coast and Canterbury and realising the enormous c:isfc-ofj slowly-constructing a line which prie- ! ticallv can have no eirniug power until completed, this meeting ot loc il ..bodies and . unions cf Canterbury and Westland now urges upon the Government to make an allocation of at least £200,000 per annum in order thit this important line may be completed within five years." ,
