Fisk Jubilee Singers.

o The re-appearance oiihe Ptsk Jubilee Singera in Palmeiston last night moved a large audience to enthusiasm. .Tins combination comprises eight members—four ladus and four gentlemen— whose musical ability both in solo singicg and concerted numbers is of a very high order; in fact, it might be said that their achievements collectively bave never been Vqiiilled in Palmerston. The harmo:;y of ihe voices wasas nearly parfect as i« possible, and itisfmall wonder that evtiy number was Rreeled with rapturtu? appJame. Tk& jubilee choruses were all fine, wellualanced pieces of work, and many of them had to bj repeated. One, "Peter on the Sea," was sung as th& slaves used to sing in the days that are gone, without any of the musical artifices-" that assist the ordinary vocalist, and wasfully appreciated by the audience, who got some slight idea of the religious fervour which animated those ill-treated' bondsmen. A male quartette, " They Kissed* I saw them do it," by the gentlemen of the Company, was also vociferously encored. The soloists each received a warm welcome, two (Messrs Clarence Tisdale and B. H. Collins) being re-called three times. Mr Harry C. Newton has a fine bass voice which \vas^ heard to advantage in "Davy Jones1 .Locker," and he well deserved the encore he received. Miss Belle F. Gibbons enjoys the distinction of having abaritone voice which she used with good effect in"Where the Mississippi Flows." The tenor of the company is Mr Clarence lisdale, and as stated above he received, a triple encore for the solo " Just for to-night." Mr E. H. Collins sang twosongs in lighter vein, one a plantation ditty, "In Kentucky Valley," and the other a coon song, both of which were apleasure to listen to. Professor C. A. White played the accompaniments tastefully.

To-night a change of programme will be given. All Jovers of good music mayrely on an evening's entertainment q£ the highest quality.
