Band Association.
At a meeting of the. North Island Brass Bands Association, held last night, "Mr M. Cohen, President, presiding, the executive members present were Messrs J. Pederson (Marton), D. Charker (Palmerston), Sergeant-Major Anderson (Wanganui), Jones and Holben (Palmerston).. Apologies were receiyed from Messrs P. Meyriek, Thompson (Newtown),. J. E. Williamson (Auckland Garrison), W. Dunn iHawera1. Correspondence was received from-A. Baker (Wellington Garrison Band), re j alteration in marching competition rules, also from A. Thompson iNewtown), on the same subject.—The matter was referred to Captain Mounsey, Sergeant Peacock and Sergeant-Majo*r Anderson to report to the executive.
From Lieutenant Herd, Wellington, with suggestions referring to tabulated forms for use of judge in judgine at contests.—Lieutenant Herd to be "thanked and the executive to report to the associated bands on the suggestions made. The balance-sheet of the Auckland Contest Committee was received, together with a letter with reference to funds available.—Kef erred to the president and the secretary to communicate with the Auckland committee on the subject.
A letter from Mr H. Halse, late bandmaster Royal Marine Band, Auckland, was receiyed, and a draft of tabulated form for judging.—lt was decided to thank Mr Halse, and inform him the executive would consider the suggestions made.
From A. G. Withers, Davenport, suggesting new marching rules for contests, and forwarding a detached tabulated form for each of the military judges and timekeeper.—Handed with Mr Baker's letter to Captain Mounsey, and Sergt. Peacock; Mr' Wither to be thanked.
Sergt.-Major Anderson, Wanganui, stated he had drawn up a tabulated form on the same matter. Mr Cohen suggested it would be better to leave alterations in the marching rules to Captain Mounsey, Sergt. Peacock and Sergfc.Major Anderson, who will report to the executive.
An account received from Mr Bennett, Wellington, late treasurer to the Association, for £2 10s expenses to Palmerstori contest was not entertained.
It was decided to ask the Minister of railways to grant the same concession to the executive of the Association and its officers as it does to bandsmen attending contests.
The meeting then adjourned,
