WELLINGTON, Thi ß day.
With reference to cable message that Mclnnes, a passenger from Australia was refused permission to land in New Zealand, it appears the health officer in Wellington would not certity that he was an imbecile or insane, but stated that he was infirm, and as he had only 3s 6d and did not know where his relatives were, lie was likely to become a charge upon charitable aid. Acting on this the Customs' authorities consulted the Law Officers of the Crown, and refused permission to land unless the Union Steamship Company entered into a bond. The matter is considered one of considerable importance.
