Tiiera was an exceptionally good attendance of members present, and iho meeting was presidsd oyer by Mr C. H. Warden. Apologies were received from several office-holders and suppovters of the club for unavoidable absence. The report and balance sheet (i summary of which has already appeared in the Standand), showing the club to be in a fairly satisfactory and prosperous position, were lead and adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers was ihen proceeded with a«d resulted as follows :—■ Patron, Mr W. T. Wood, M.H R. ; President, Mr C. H Warden; VicePresidents, Messrs W. lUndnll, J. 'A. Taggirt, F. W. Burning, H. L. "young, J. Jf. Innes, H. B. Cooper, G. H. Bennett; Captain, Me W. Boon; VieoCaptain, Mr A. F. McMinn; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr A. H. Manson; VicePresident to Manawatu Bugby Union, Mr C. H. Warden ; Delegates to Rugby Union, Mesers T. Richards and A. H Manson; Management Committee, Messrs J. Stalker, T. Richards, J. Baker, R. B.kor, V. Scott, W. Boon, A. B. Manson, A. F. McMinn : delection Committee, W. Bo'n, A. F. McMina, 3. B&ker MISCELLANEOUS. A number of propositions for membership were received. On the motion of Mr Stalker, the general committee was instructed to prepare a set of rules for the guidance of the club.
Votes of thanks were accorded the outgoing officers for past services, and several minor matters were transacted.
The meeting passed the following recommendations, which the club's dele gates will bring before the Manawatu Sugby Union at its annual meeting:— " That this club point out to the Union that general dissatisfaction was expressed last season regarding the drawing up of matches and arrangement ot grounds, especially in the "junior division, and request the Union to exercise more careful allotment of same during the ensuing season; that tbis meeting is of opinion that the Manawatu Kngbv Union Bhould consider the advisability of engaging outside referees for all senior representative matuhe3 played in Talmerston during the ensuing season; and, furihor, that, provided the Manawatu ■'■ugby Onion adopt such a course, Ru«by Unions throughout New Zealand be circularised to that effect, with a view to inducing them to do likewise."
Tbe management committee will meet in a fortnight's time for the purpose of classifjing its players. Endeavours are to be made, by the f ecretary, t» arrange with the Orientals (a Wellington club) for a match, at the Empire City, at Easter.
The thanks of the club are due to Mr J. McKenzie for a donation of 10s to the funds. Mr McXenzie was elected an honorary member. After discussion it was decided to retain the name, colours, and membership subscription fee, as previously, of the club.
The meeting was a very enthusiastic and successful one, and the club anticipate placing a fairly strong team in the field for senior honours, this season.
NOTEB. At the conclusion of the busiaoes at 'ha lnatituta Club's meeting last even■ng, Mr C H. Warden, on behalf of the memberß, presented Mr A. H. Maneoa, he secrfitßry, with ft handsome (roiniaturr) gold football as a token of appreciation of the ctpub c and painstaking manner in which he had performed the dntt6B of his office for the period 1902----1905 The recipient's efforts on behalf of the club were warmly eulogifed by Iffr Warden, who expressed the hope hat ho would not be relieved from the position for many years. (Applause). Mr Maneon, upon whom a pleasant surprise was sprung, feelingly returned thanks for the proaent and the kind, appreciative eulogy of his work. Football in Palmemon this year promises to be stronger than 6ver, and it is rumoured that fully seven or eight teams will contest the senior championship. In.connection with the proposed visit of the Australian team, next August, to the colony, it is reported that; several enthusiasts are already at work with a view to. inducing tho New Zealand Rugby Union to allot a match to PaU merston. The Mannwatu Rugby Union will probably move in the matter at Ub committee meeting next Thursday evening. Arrangement? are in the courFe of completion, or otherwise, for the North v. South. Island match to be olayed at Wellington on June 3rd. Nine more men are wanted to accompany the New Zealand team to the Old Country and the most prominent flayers in this match will probably be chosen.
