The Eye of Lord Kitchener.
A very formidable picture of Lord Kitcbenrr is given by a writer in the Ou>look. "When he steps out of his tent and s-nds his paze travelling round the semicircle of his view every one feels uncomfortable. It has been admirably described by one who experienced it. 'I flinched, though I was doing noihing wrong; tho subaltern stopped talking to me as though caught in a theft; * soldier who was driving in tent-pegs dropped his tools and began to fumble at hi 3 buttons; upon all sides there was an instant of extreme discomfort unt il the great man went m again.' At,d his eves are always the same-btmal, piercing, piti. less, the eyes of a m-n whom a sweating orderly once described as ' like the bloomm Day of Judgment.1 "
