Batter Very Flat.

The Department of Industries ana Commerce has received a cablegram from the Agent-General, dated London, 22nd, as follows: —
The sale for all qualities of mutton is dull. The average price to-day for Canterbury mutton is 4gd per lh; Dunedin; Southland and W-M.E. Co. brands, 4|d; for other brands North Island mutton,-4d per Ib. --
There is only a small demand for lamt> at quotations cabled last week. There are small supplies of Australian lamb on the market; The average price to : day is 4fd. "'. •• / •
The beef market is overstocked and depressed, supplies of Biver Plate beef being very heavy. The average price for hindquarters New Zealand beef is 3§d; forequarters, 2£d;per.lb."
The. butter market remains very flat. The average price for choicest (stored) New Zealand butter to-day is 94s per cwt. : There is no change in the price of Danish; Australian*"loss. / :.:v:;--v
The cheese market is firm wi]th an unproved demand; Canadian, 645; " There is a better demand for hemp in all positions at about j£3o per ton.
