Cheap Coal.
(To the Editor.)
Sib,—According to Mr Hogg's stat6" ments coal costs 15s per ton on trucks, Wellington or Foxton. In reply to this my firm is prepared to take all be can supply at the following prices, cash on delivery :—Best screened Coalbrookdale coal, 23s 6d per ton on trucks Wellington ; best screened Coalbrookdale coal, 28s per ton on trucks Foxton; best screened State coal (Point Elizabeth), 2s per ton less.
As the railage from Wellington and Foxton is 9s 9d and 4s 2d per ton respectively and we are selling best screened household coal at 35s per ton, delivered; where do our usurous profits come in ? As there, is a difference of 8s 6d and 13s per ton between Mr Hogg's buying and selling price, I fancy thit. will pay.him better than writing twaddle and misrepresentations in your columns. In order to prove that be is an intelligent and:logical person, I chillenge him to supply us with a cargo of either coal on trucks Foxton within a month's time.—l am; etc., V
