H. Holland, J. H. Manttan, Edgar Tucker, R. H. : Whalltvy, W. T. Green,W. Mathieson. W. Jewell, F. W. A. Mason.,, V. .; Fitzherbert, ;B: Inesen ■;' secretary, : Mr; J. Mounsey.- '■-'"-'.' ". V ■•'•'.'■ ' ,

- The third, .annual, show .of the. Manawatu Poultry Association commenced at .the Zealandia Hall today, and e\£<?.>at this- early stage, the success of the fixture is assured. The entries received, totalling close on 1000, constitute a record far the town, a«d the quality right through is quite on a par, with the. number, in fact in the .opinion; of those best ableto judo-c, a liner'collection! of birds would bo difficult to find. '"Thorp is not a bad class in tha show/ : remarked one expert to a " Standard .''■ "representative this morning, . and when one peruses the catalogue the reason is not difficult to find since the book contains the name of almost every prominent breeder.between Auckland and,. Marlborough; Practically all the birds shown havo run the gauntlet of other shows this season, and, as may be imagined,: only those possessingy more than ordinary chance of success, have been sent in.

• ■ The classes as a whole are strongly represented, ;but this is particularly so in the . championship "classes which -'. arc. decidedly inferos-ti_«' from the fact that some of the exhi" bitors in these classes have already secured ' " legs-in " and success at •this show means the iinal appropriation of the trophy presented. Apart from the ordinary show exhibits there are numerous special cxhlibi- ! tions of interest to visitors. They .-include several pens of: ''•"• Silkies/*' diminutive but very- pretty • bird, shown by Mr Canning,, of Eskdale! Hawkesßay, and 3 pens of Buff Leghorns; shown for the first time in Palmerston. They are exhibited) by Mr H. Hughes, of Carterton, and a local interest attaches to -them from the fact that they were bred by Mr Morley,... late of '•' The Pines," Palmerston, but now of Nelson. They are, as a breed, slightly on the small side, as compared with the ordinary Leghorns, but they are of a distinctly attractive type. .W-hitoPly-mouth Rocks are, also a new class here. They-are shown by Mr Saun--c.ers., of Martmborough, arid are from an imparted Ame'i'i'()a» straiifhi: Tjhey comparo very favourably both, in size and type with the barred varieties: Boththete latter entries were received by the energy of Mr G. H. •Pickering. ' ' - . ' . . The trio competition, institute- by the Association was held, for the first time this year, is another feature of the show, and the birds, which are representative of the strength-of the various poultry associations entering are of splendid type. Ihe .Wyandotte trio contains the North Island champion pullet, Silver Wyando-We, shown by Mr Suckling, on behalf, of the Pahiatua Poultry Association. Pahiatua is, also, represented by Black Orpingtons, Silver Wyandottes, White Leghorns, and Minorcas: The Manawatu Society is. represented by Buff" Orpingtons (Mr H. J. Manson); Partridge Wyandottes (Mr PickerWY, Black Mmorcas (Mr J. D. Cox),-and White Leghorns (Mr E. Holland).' Tiro Hastings Society trio is broken up by the Brown Leghorn entry not coming; - forward. Pig. eo ns ' and canaries are,, also, strong classes and they are not.the least attractive featleature of the show.

Judgiing. was commoß.ed a_ fian early Jiour by the •judge-, "- _r_ : W Hart, Hastings, and Air A. Palmer/ iimaru, a _d they made excellent progress despite the l-arg- array cf fowls lor their inspection. The North Island Championship i tor Aylesbury Bucks was won by Mr W. A. Sowmau, Blenheim. ■• . . At half-past two the Show was 'opened by Mr TV* T. Wo 0 d!, Mk-H.R, Appended are results up to goin-gi to press :— GAME. Black red, hen.^-P. Cavill 1. Two entries. . .
