Cuirasses for Russia.
Our cables informed us a few days ago that Russia had given an order at Milan for IOO.OuO Bendetti cuirasses, which are said to be bullet-proof. Russia has been negotiating for and making trials of. this reported bullet-proof material for some: time.: The composition is, of course, kept secret, but on examination it seems to have a felt texture. In an account of seme experiments which were tried with the material it is stated that a portion wa< placed round the body of a horse which was allowed to graze in a field. A butlst was then firsd out ot a servicerifle at the animal with no apparent result. The horse took no notice and continued feeding. On an inspection being made a slight deut was all thai could, be seen where the bullet struck the material. The missile itself had dropped to the ground. And it k>& not affected the composition. Other experiments were tried, and ail were said to have been satisfactory.
