While Engaged in Prayer.

I (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 13. # A painfully sudden death occurred in the vestry of St. David's Presbyterian Church yesterday, just as the morning service was about to commence, the deceased being William Anderson, an elder of the Church and a well-known resident. It is the custom at St. David's for the minister and elders to kneel in, the vestry for a few minutes' prayer jn-ior to service. Anderson was engaged in this devotion when he fell prone and expired. The cause or" death was heart disease, i Anderson came to Auckland in the cav]y days, and for about a quarter of a century be was in the service of the City Council, having held the position of City Engineer for the greater part of that time, retiring1 about five years ago.
