3^elbottene, May 27. It is unofficially stated that the Labour caucus has resolved in favour of negotiating for a coalition with the Deakinites.
In the House Mr Crouch moved that the Australian flap;, aa officially selected, should be flown at all forts, vessels, and public buildings in the Commonwealth on all occasions. He said that although the Australian flag had been authorised it had never been used, the Union Jack being always flown.
Mr Watson declared there was every reason why the-Australian flag should be used, but he would prefer a flag more adequately symbolisiDg the life and aspirations of the Australian than the present one. Certainly he thought that on all the buildings under the Commonwealth the.Australian flag should occupy the premier position except on special occasions, when the Eoyal standard was required. He would see that instructions were given to that effect. The debate was adjourned.
