Stock Sales.
Messts Lowes and lorns, Ltd., report as follows regarding their Pahiatua sale held on Tuesday:—For tho season of the year there was an unusually large yarding of both "sheep and cattle. The sale was conducted under most unfavourable circumstances, rain falling almost incessantly throughout the wholo day. Naturally stock appeared at their worst. Competition dragged somewhat under the hammer, ana a good many lots had to be passed in. Buyers', however, were ready to operate and considerable business was done privately. The bulk of the sheep changed hands and all fallgrown cattle and woaners were disposed of, middle-aged cattle being least in request. We quote :—Fat wethers 17b, iat ewes 15s to 16a, forward wethers 15s 6d to 16s, store wethers 11s u> 14s 6d, empty ewes 10s 6d to 13a, according to condition, ewes in lamb 12s to 14s, lambs (poor sorts) 5s 3d to 6s 9d; weaner cattie 183 to £2, 3yr bullooks £5 3s to £5 7s 6d, very forward bullooks, of '-'good quality £6 to £6 os, fat bullocks £7 10s to £8 3a, fat cows £4 10s io £5 103 heifers in calf £3 7s 6d to £4 ss.
