LONDON, May 2a. It is reported at Mukden that Cossacks have captured several transport columns, thus hamperino- General Kuroki. . . ° The Japanese are closing Yongam(pho to mercantile, traffic. This is ' supposed to be a prelude to the landing of- a J>art of the third army on the Yalu. _ The Japanese' treat captured Russian spies as prisoners and do not shoot them. The intricate nature of the minefields prevented the occupation of Dalny, and the fleet was unable to adequately co-operate with the land forces. General Stossel has seized all the banks' cash at Port Arthur. An Oifu telegram reports that heavy firing was heard near Port Arthur, indicating a land attack, since the Japanese fleet was not there. Th« assistant president of the Canadian-Pacific'railway is confident tjiat. the light and badly-comstruct-ed Manchurian railway is unable to victual half-a-million Russians.
