(To the Editor).
] r'T y attention was directed yesterday to a reference made to Mr VVood in a sub-leader appearing in luesday's "Standard" relating to the Glen Oroua school, and in justice to that gentleman 1 shall esteem it a layour if you can find room in your widely -read columns for this explanation:
Our reason, for troubling Mr Wood ou former occasions was the fact ■ that be was appointed by the Board to interview the settlers when application was made for a school here, about four years ago, and I am sure no one, could be more kindly courteous than was Mr Wood ou every occasion on which his advice or help jas needed. • Nor was it because we deemed him less kindly disposed that. we did not seek his good offices on tins occasion, but because a deputation was going to Wellington with, a petition to the Minister for Education, and it .would have been grossly discourteous to Mr Vile, M.H.R. for Manawatu, to invito the member for Palmerston to accompany the deputation in preference to our own representatives Thanking you in anticipation—l am, etc., J. SANS9N, Chairman, Glen Oroua School Committee. 19th-May, .1904.
