The .Wairarapa Racing Club has suspended the licenses of tlie jockeys Carmont and Stewart for having failed to attend an enquiry into the, running of-the mare Replete. The Wairarapa Racing Club -will aPPIy .for a permit for a steeplechase meeting, to be held early in August. The following notices of motion will be again brought forward' at the Racing Conference in July by the Wairarapa Raoing Club, viz. :— "Under the heading of "starting/ insert a new rule as follows: * ?At all meetings where the totalisator is used ..the starting machine shall be used, unless special permission is given otherwise by the MetropolU.au Club, provided always that if any accident happen to the machine on the day of meeting, rendering it unfit for usej" such special permission shall be implied-' ; and to add to rule 159, ' hurdle races of-one mile and a half shall be,over not less than five flights of hurdles, of one mile and three-quarters six flights, and two miles seven flights.' "
