School Committee.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Campbell-street School Committee was held last night. Present—Messrs E. Wilson (Chairman), Perrin. Clarkson, Befct, Dawick, and Swallow (secretary). The headmaster's report showed the average roll of the school to be 6d6, attendance 478-9, highest 494, present roll 543. The attendance has been well maintained, but it now commences io show signs of the usual Christmas falling off. Mr Curtis left to take up his duties at Hautapu on the 13th inst.. Mrs Mellish returned to duty on the Ist inst and Miss J. W. Coombe is filling a vacant post. Miss Grant, pupil teacher, will be absent for about ten daya sitting for the New Zealand University examination.
The annual school concert will be held on the 15th inst. at the Theatre Royal, and it is noped that all members of the Committee will be present. Reference was also made to necessities, including desks, at the school. It was decided to apply to the Board for the desks, etc.. mentioned in the report, and the question of assistance c in place of Mr Curtis was held over till , next meeting, pending a report from Mr Watson and the Chairman upon the matter. ;
The Secretary was instructed to inform all members of committee as "to the concert.
Messrs Belt and Perrin were appointed a visiting committee for the month. , .
Usual accounts were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated. -
