Shannon Notes.

(From Our Own Correspondent.)

A meeting was held in the Oddfellow's 'Hall, Shannon, on Monday, December 7th, for the purpose of considering the advisableness of forming a bowling club. Present -. Messrs Rawston, the convener '(in the chair! and about twenty others. The Chairman produced a list signed by 31 persons agreeing to form a Bowling Clnb at Shannon. After consideration, the following resolutions were carried:—That in the opinion of (his meeting it is desirable to form a Bowling Club at Shannon; that the following be elected to form a Committee:—Messrs Bawston, J. R. Stansell, M. Moynihan, P. Carter and Toomath. and to report to a to be held before Christmas as to the best site, and price of area, and terms, and also what the subscriptions would be, and as to the advisability of procuring sufficient ground to have a Lawn Tennis Club adjoining. The Shannon post office is to be enlarged and brought out level with the footpaths, andjaot before it was required, business having increased very much or late.

The new railway time-table is spoken of as the best the Manawatu Eailway Company have yet issued. The Bank of New South Wales has opered its doors twice a week in Shannon, and as there is not much sentiment about a Bank, it generally means business. ' .
