Nelson, December 3. A large meeting was held to-in«ht to consider Harbour Board matters. A resolution was carried, with only one dissentient, "That ihe Board be requested to rescind its adoption of the altered and radically different plans for harbour improvements recommended by Messrs Baw.on and Willisms. It was unanimously resolved to as.k the Board to proceed at once with Mr L _nlie _R .y----nold's scheme " ; also, " That ihe meeting has overy confidence in Mr Webster and requests the Government to reappoint him as a nominated member of the Board."
Cheistchubch, Dec. 3. The Court of Directors ot the Royal Humane Society met-to-day. The Court awarded a bronze medal to Mrs Nellie Stewart tor saving her husband frr-m drowning at CroixeUes on March 17th. . Robert* Lynam was awarded a, silver medal for having rescued Paul Bock from drowning on March s'h, and Jis. Murdoch from drowning on May 28th off the Marine Parade,' Napier. . A bronze medtil was awarded to Norman H. Dnds'on, of Blenheim, aged 16, for saving Trevor Rico from drowning in the Opawa river. °
Constables L. I). Mclvor and E. Ennia were each awarded a silver medal for rescuing two women from biirnihc; in a house in Auckland on June 29.
■ Agnes Butcher was awarded a letter of commendation for assistance rendered a small girl named Pearl Shaw, whose clothes caught fi.r*y_.t Au**kh_id oa A^ril 15.

Wellikgtok, Dec. 3. At the Supreme Court. to-day the Crown applied for a new trial m the ulleged -'two-up" fa.c. two juries having disagreed. Mr Jellicoe opposed the application and applied to quash the codviction in.the indictment.upou which prisoners fcturgeon and Eager wero committed for trial. Mr Justice Cooper granted, a new trial for Monday, and re .served judgment until Saturday next on the points raised by Mr Jellicoe.
