The Black Family.
In referring to an entertainment given m Wellington by the Black FamilY of musicians, the Post says: "The Black family, of Dunedin, gave a highly en ]oyable entertainment—refined and re freshing. The family were heard as it might be in their own drawing room engaging m a striking manner the possibilities of music rightly cultivated in the home circle. In its full strength, "the company" numbers half-a-dozen The prima donna is Miss Nellie Black, who besiaes possessing a rich sweet voice of goodranee (invariably winning encores for her vocal contributions), is also an accomplished instrumentalist, playingthe pmno, mandolin, and violin, the latter exceptionally well. Mr Black sen. is, of course a musician tbatishe* can take his turn at the double-bass or clanonet in the orchestral selections, and can sing a hnmorous song effectively. Mr Bertie Black pl!y S the cornet and 'cello, and a number of queer instruments m a "turn" entitled "Odds and Ends," snd can also dance a sailor's hornpipe very well. Miss Elsie assists with theviolm and flute in the orchestral pieces, also plays a flute solo, and dances a "Spanish Tarantelle." Mrs -Biack, at the pianoforte, renders valuable assistance. Undoubtedly the eem ot the concert was Miss Nellie Black's smgmg of » Oh, dry those tears," with organ and cello ofcbhgato. Theorckestral number, "Bohemian Girl," and a mandolin selection by the whole family were also especially appreciated. The company will appear in Palmerston on Wednesday and Thursday next
