SYDNEY, -This Tay,
The barque Saragossa has arrived from London. Three outbreaks of fire occurred in rapid succession amongst a quantity of roofing and felt, which was jettisoned. The lires were extinguished with difficulty. A series of gales followed during which the stoarsman was so badly injured that he died.
VISIT TO THE SOUTH SEAS
Messrs Huddart, Parker's Victoria has been chartered to convey the Cardinal and party to the South Seas at the end of July BRIGHTER PROSPECTS.
At a meeting o f the National Bank the Chairman said there was a brighter outlook for crops and grass. The reports from the wheat districts were most encouraging Retrenchment and economy in the States and increased production in minerals and produce should save the cause, and we would be thankful at the end of the present year.
